Small Groups and Descriptions
Divorce/Changing Family- This group helps give students a secure place to discuss home situations. Children can often feel isolated when big changes are happening in families. This group helps kids understand all families look different.
Honesty- This group is for kids struggling with telling the truth at home and/or school. We will learn why it's important to be honest and gain trust from peers and adults.
Friendship/Social Skills- Goals for this group are to help children learn how to make and keep friends, respond appropriately in various situations with friends, and use empathy with friends.
Anger Management- Goals for this group are to help kids learn to handle their anger positively. We discuss how to know when you are getting angry and then strategies to use when you feel angry other than hitting or yelling.
School Success- Children will learn tips on organization, listening skills, test taking, studying, and more.
Impulse Control- This group is for children who have difficulty focusing attention during class, act impulsively at school and home and are struggling academically because of their impulsiveness. Goals for this group are for children to learn what an impulse is and act appropriately on their impulses is various situations.
Proud to Be Me!- We do activities that help students learn to recognize and utilize their strengths.
Other Groups as Needed: Grief, Foster Kids, Military Kids
